- How many tiles occupy a given area of the composition. Greater density gives smaller individual tiles at a fixed output size.

- The space between adjacent images or shapes. Consistent gutters can make a busy collage easier to read.

- The proportional relationship between image width and height, such as a square 1:1 composition or a tall 9:16 canvas.

- The selected portion of an image that appears inside a frame. Cropping changes the visible content rather than stretching its proportions.

- The area intended to attract attention first, established through scale, contrast, position, or other visual relationships.

- The order of attention within a composition. A clear hierarchy helps a viewer understand what leads and what supports.

- A quiet or unoccupied area that helps shape the composition and separate more visually active elements.

- A selected group of colors used to give the artwork a deliberate relationship between background, accents, and neutral areas.

- The degree of visual difference between elements. Light-dark contrast is particularly important when placing readable text over a mosaic.

- Mosaic artwork made from arranged shapes rather than necessarily from photographs. Arcs, circles, stripes, and triangles can create its rhythm.

- A broad label for AI-assisted or generated mosaic-style work. It should not automatically be understood as a mosaic containing real source photographs.

- An image used to guide the arrangement or structure of another image. Its effect depends on the tool and should be checked rather than assumed.

- The working source file that preserves the elements needed for later changes, such as layers, image positions, and text.

- A finished image in which the visible composition is combined rather than retained as separately editable layout elements.

- The number of pixels across and down an image. These dimensions are distinct from how large the image happens to appear on a screen.

- A relationship between pixel dimensions and a physical output size, often abbreviated ppi when preparing images for printing.

- A region where essential content is kept clear of vulnerable edges or interface overlays. Check the requirements of the actual destination.
